Skincare During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
- Don’t forget sunscreen (SPF):
Sunscreen is especially important during pregnancy because hormonal changes can make the skin more sensitive and cause uneven skin tone. A high SPF, preferably SPF 30 or higher, should be an essential part of your daily skincare. Make sure to use broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays, and be extra careful with application, especially on the face and other exposed areas. - Choose a gentle cleanser:
During pregnancy, your skin may experience changes such as increased oil production and dryness. Choose a mild cleanser containing moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin that balance the skin without drying it out. - Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize more!
Dryness is common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes, so maintaining good moisture balance is important. Use moisturizing products like serums and creams to hydrate deeply and protect against moisture loss. Including a night mask in your routine can also give an extra boost of hydration while you sleep. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water to help hydrate your skin from within. - Fragrance-free products when breastfeeding
When it’s time for breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, it’s wise to choose fragrance-free body products. Newborn skin is extremely sensitive, and it’s good to avoid strong scents that might disrupt the baby’s natural bonding. Fragrance-free options reduce the risk of appearance of irritated skin for both you and the baby. - Soothing and nourishing creams:
To keep the skin around the breasts soft and prevent cracking, it’s recommended to use a mild, specially formulated breast care cream.
Are there any Verso products I should avoid during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We recommend avoiding products containing Retinol 8 or NEAR 1 during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to hormonal changes in the body. Instead, we suggest choosing products that help hydrate, visibly strengthen, and soothe your skin. Verso Super Exo Soothe Serum, Verso Super C Serum, and Verso Nourishing Mask are all suitable products that provide these benefits.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, one’s skin can become acutely sensitive. Therefore, we advise setting aside the Verso Peel Mask during this period. It has exfoliating properties and contains acids, which may be too active for sensitive skin. You are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions about your skincare routine.
Are there alternatives to Vitamin A and Retinol for use during pregnancy?
Verso Natural Glow with Bakuchiol is an ideal alternative to Vitamin A/Retinol/Retinoids. It is perfect for those who want a natural option or who cannot tolerate or use Vitamin A/Retinol/Retinoids—for example, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, when Retinol is not recommended.
Verso Natural Glow is a day cream with brightening properties. It is enriched with Bakuchiol, nature’s answer to Retinol/Rtinoids (Vitamin A). The active ingredient softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin texture. You can expect visibly smoother, radiant skin with a revitalized, healthy freshness and glow. This versatile skincare day cream is excellent to use as part of a complete skincare routine at all stages of life.
